Magnolia, WA

Built for Magnolia Homes That Need a Better Way Up

Magnolia homes have unique styles. Many sit on slopes, face tight layouts, or carry older floor plans that don’t always make stairs feel easy, safe, or natural. Around Discovery Park, Magnolia Village, and the streets near Elliott Bay, homes often need staircases that respect the space instead of forcing a standard layout into it.

A poorly planned staircase can make daily life feel awkward. Steps may feel too steep. Railings may look out of place. Landings may waste useful square footage. Older stair parts may creak, shift, or make the entry feel dated. That’s where our custom staircase services make a real difference for Magnolia, WA, homeowners. You get a staircase that fits your home, your walking path, and the way your rooms connect.

Stair Styles Made for Real Homes

We build stair systems that match the structure, size, and feel of your home. Some Magnolia homes need a clean, straight staircase. Others need a curved stair, an open layout, or a detailed railing system that becomes part of the room.

Our custom staircase services include straight stairs, curved stairs, floating-style stair systems, grand entry stairs, wood stairs, custom landings, box newels, turned newels, wood balusters, glass details, stainless steel parts, and wrought iron accents.

Every part matters. Treads affect comfort. Risers affect safety. Handrails affect grip. Newel posts give strength and shape. Balusters change the whole look of the stairway. We don’t treat stairs like an afterthought. We build them as a major part of the home.

Strong Stair Systems Start with Proper Planning

A strong staircase starts before the first board is cut. We begin with site measurements, layout review, and material planning. That helps us understand the rise, run, landing space, ceiling height, railing path, and framing needs.

For many projects, we prefer to handle the stair framing ourselves because the frame controls how the full staircase fits. Curved stairs, wreathed fittings, box newels, and detailed rail sections need careful shaping so the parts meet cleanly and feel solid under daily use.

Some stair frames are built in our shop and brought to the home. Other stair systems are assembled on-site after the parts are made or ordered. Loren Dugan stays closely involved throughout the project, from planning to installation.

Our approach keeps the work organized and clear.

Why Choose Us

Deep Roots in Stair Building

Our experience comes from decades spent building staircases, not treating them as a side project. That history helps us handle everything from simple stair runs to detailed curved stair layouts that require careful planning and accurate execution throughout the build.

Strong Foundations Behind Every Staircase

What sits beneath the finished staircase matters just as much as what people see. Our understanding of stair framing helps create a solid base that supports proper alignment, smoother installation, and long-term durability for the entire stair system.

Materials Carefully Selected for Daily Living

A staircase handles constant foot traffic. We carefully choose stair components, wood species, railing materials, and decorative elements that suit the home’s style while holding up to everyday use by families, guests, and future generations.
